Carl MeyerCarl E. Meyer

President/CEO, The Solar Energy Consortium

A proven industry executive with 35+ years of experience in the energy and economic development sectors of the Hudson Valley and New York State, Carl Meyer is currently the President/CEO of The Solar Energy Consortium (TSEC), headquartered in Kingston, NY. TSEC is an industry-driven, not-for-profit, public-private partnership dedicated to establishing a sustainable solar industry in NYS.

Through strategic alliances, TSEC brings together the resources of New York State’s technology, manufacturing, financial and research communities to commercialize solar technologies in a timely and sustainable manner. These alliances give the state and more specifically the Hudson Valley a competitive market advantage for solar industry innovation and job creation.

Mr. Meyer also chairs the Board of Directors of the Center For Global Advanced Manufacturing (CGAM), a not-for-profit dedicated to providing manufacturers with technical and business support services to enable them to grow their companies.

CGAM is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization founded in 2012 by executive volunteers. It is an industry/academic collaboration found to retain and grow manufacturing jobs in the Mid-Hudson and Mohawk Valley regions. CGAM focuses its support on small and medium sized businesses (“SMEs”). The organization seeks to capture the economic, social and global benefits of manufacturing for SMEs and to deliver these benefits to residents and businesses of the Mid-Hudson region. It seeks to assist manufacturers in: improving global competitiveness, developing new products, accessing academic research facilities, attracting and retaining skilled workers and developing supply chain networks. A key initiative includes the development of SMARTT Labs located on the campuses of community colleges. Ten of the labs are either operating or in planning stages.

Mr. Meyer recently retired as President/COO of Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. and Executive Vice President of CH Energy Group, a publicly traded holding company headquartered in the Hudson Valley of NYS.

While President of Central Hudson and in his current position at TSEC, Mr. Meyer was actively engaged in broad-based regional economic development initiatives. In this capacity, he worked collaboratively with executives from the Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation and the NY Empire State Development Corporation, along with local economic development organizations to develop and implement a regional marketing strategy to attract businesses and jobs to the Hudson Valley. Notably, he was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Dutchess County Economic Development Corporation.

John RathJohn F. Rath, III

Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending, TD Bank

John Rath has worked in banking since 1980 and has been employed by TD Bank since 1998 as Senior Vice President and Group Manager responsible for Corporate, Middle Market, Commercial and Small Business lending activities in the Lower Hudson Valley. He was previously employed for The Bank of New York for 18 years, rising from a local branch manager position to Commercial Lending Team Leader.

Mr. Rath was past Chairman and current Board member for Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress, and just recently concluded as Chair of United Way of Dutchess and Orange 2012 Campaign which raised over $2MM. He is a current member Health Quest Health System Quality and Patient Satisfaction Committee, member of the Board of Hudson Valley Economic Development Corp and NY BioHud Valley; current Member and former Chairman for ten years of the Advisory Board for the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, as well as Co-Chairman of their previously successful Capital Campaign. Mr. Rath is also current member of both the Bardavon 1869 Opera House and SUNY Orange Foundation Board of Trustees.

Mr. Rath previously served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Vassar Brothers Medical Center and was member of the Executive Board, member and Chair of the Performance Improvement Committee, member Strategic Planning and Business Planning Committees, Finance Committee and Health Quest Board. Member of the successful $15MM Vassar Brothers Medical Center Capital Campaign for their new Ambulatory Surgery Center completed in 2012. He was the past Treasurer, Trustee and Elder for Mid Hudson Christian Church in Wallkill, NY and Goodwill Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Montgomery, NY. Mr. Rath past member of the Dutchess County Economic Development Corporation External Marketing Committee; organized and headed His Love Unveiled Food Pantry in Wallkill, NY. John was also the past Chairman and board member of the Orange County Private Industry Council; Past member of the Orange County Capital Development Corp., 1999 Chairman of United Way Day of Caring, Past Member of Congresswomen Sue Kelly’s Financial Services Committee Advisory Board, Little League coach for Wallkill Area Little League, served on as Newburgh Revitalization, Education and the Orange Open Committees for the Orange County Chamber; Stewart-Newburgh Economic Development Zone Task Force; past member of the Orange County Workforce Development Task Force; and past member of the Hudson Valley Banker’s Association.

Mr. Rath graduated from Washingtonville Senior High School in 1976 and attended Dutchess Community College in 1986. He lives in Newburgh, New York and is married to Deborah. They have six children and three grandchildren and enjoy running, reading, concerts and Broadway.
