Who We Are

Mount Saint Mary College is a private, 4-year, liberal arts college, located in Newburgh in Orange County, in the mid-Hudson Valley region of New York State.

Founded by the Sisters of Saint Dominic in 1960, The Mount is celebrating its 50th anniversary as a four-year college in 2010, but we've been an academic presence here in Newburgh since 1883. The college's roots in education go even further back to the 14th century and Saint Dominic.

Mount Saint Mary college offers our students an affordable liberal arts education with over 50 academic programs and 3 graduate degree programs. Our strong programs in business, education, the health professions, media arts and the social sciences are linked to high career growth fields. Mount students excel in their chosen fields by choosing internships and study abroad experiences that add dimension and value to their education.

We asked those who know best —our students—what it is about The Mount that makes going to college here such a singular experience. Our students cited:

  • The Mount's close, supportive student/faculty relationships.
