Professor Niemotko has enjoyed teaching accounting for 28 years and remains active in the accounting profession through her involvement with the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. Becoming a member in 1991, she serves on the Committee of Higher Education and Academic Advancement and is the 2013-2014 president of the Mid-Hudson Chapter.

In 2012, she was recognized for her achievements by being selected by her peers as the recipient of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants Dr. Emanuel Saxe Outstanding CPA in Education Award, which highlights distinguished service, excellence in teaching, and promotion of the accounting profession.

In August 2012, the second edition of her book, Accounting Basics: A Survival Guide for Students, was published by Kendall-Hunt.
