Professor Sarro's doctoral studies concentrated on population
biology. Under the mentoring of Dr. Calvin and Linda Heusser, he
wrote a dissertation on the reconstruction of the vegetation of
Japan during the last 80,000 years.
Professor Sarro is involved in a number of ornithological
studies taking place at the Mohonk Preserve. These include
spring/summer breeding bird censuses, Christmas Bird Count, fall
hawk migration, and breeding studies on Peregrine Falcons.
Professor Sarro is also continuing several long term vegetation
studies at the Preserve. He currently is a member or serves
on:
- The Research Committee of the Mohonk Preserve
- The New York State Floral Association
- The Long Island Botanical Society
- The Human Anatomy and Physiology Society
