Dear Parents,
Thank you for considering your student’s request to study abroad
while at MSMC. We are excited that your student has taken the first
steps towards becoming a more global citizen and learner. Studying
abroad is a profound event and most students return home from their
experience “changed” and having had a “completely transformative”
experience.
It is the goal of the Office of International Programs to make
sure that you and your student are well informed, prepared, and
supported before, during, and after their time abroad. We will make
this opportunity academically and personally fulfilling, so that
your student can experience the unparalleled opportunities that
come with living and learning in a foreign country.
We are very much aware that you concerns over study abroad may
vary from your student’s. You are likely worried about finances
(page 4A), safety (page 4B), and how you will cope (page 4B) with
knowing that your student is halfway around the world. These are
the sorts of concerns that we are here to address and alleviate if
possible. Rest assured that we will communicate all the needed
information to you if you desire and are happy to have an open
dialogue about your concerns as well as your excitement!
Best Wishes,
Emily Marmo
Director of International Programs
