Intro to Mosaics

Delve into the colorful world of mosaics in a relaxed, fun, no-pressure atmosphere where students can explore and develop their own individual creativity. This class is a complete overview of mosaics, including hands-on experience as students, create one-of-a-kind custom pieces using the direct method of application. Explore a variety of mosaic materials in this class—ceramic tile, stained glass, china, and found objects. There is an introduction to adhesives, grouts, bases, and sources for materials and substrates as well. The class starts off with a brief historical overview of mosaic and a discussion on the various methods of constructing a mosaic, materials, tools, and substrates. A materials fee of $45, payable by cash or check, will be collected by the instructor at the beginning of the class.
