"After graduating from Duchess Community College, I started
looking for a school that had social work and a department that
worked with adult learners who have a learning disability. I
graduated in 1997 and 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in Human
Services and a master's degree in Elementary & Special
Education. Prior to completing my degree, I served in the U.S. Navy
and was looking for a school that worked with vets.
The college is light years ahead of a lot of other colleges
when it comes to veteran’s education. The Mount is a good choice
for a veteran because it makes registering very easy with no hassle
and has very friendly employees willing to help. In addition, the
Education Department went above and beyond what I expected in order
to assure that I would be successful. Choosing the Mount makes
adjusting to the college life easier because you feel
While studying at the Mount, I was able to complete
internships at Gardnertown and Temple Hill School. Overall, my
experience with the college has been nothing but positive. It is a
great college with great staff that make the entire experience a
wonderful memory." ~Timothy Johnson, Mount alumnus
