The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share
your riches but to reveal to him his own."
- Benjamin Disraeli
Internships combine practical work experiences with academic
majors and career goals. Nothing can add a professional dimension
and powerful credentials to a student’s education better than an
internship experience.
Mary Ann
Raftery, ’13, communications major from Long Island, recently
interned with the FDNY Foundation in Brooklyn and will be serving
as a public relations intern at Polo Ralph Lauren in New York City
this spring. According to Mary Ann, “Experience is key to finding
employment after graduation in any field. By taking advantage of
the internship program through the Mount Saint Mary College Career
Center, I have gained more confidence in my abilities and it has
prepared me for my professional life after college.”
As a graduate of Mount Saint Mary College, you are in a
wonderful position to affect the professional development of a
Mount student. If you or your company hires interns, consider
taking a Mount intern under your wing and having a hand in a
student’s professional growth.
If your company is not in the Hudson Valley or in Manhattan, a
summer internship would be a wonderful option for a Mount student
living in your area. Many of our students hail from the Albany
area, Long Island, New Jersey and Connecticut.
