Answering the Call Capital Campaign...
Transforming the College
In contrast to annual giving programs like the MSMC Annual Fund, which provide annual operating funds for opportunities such as scholarships, faculty development and new library resources, capital campaigns are intense fundraising initiatives that are undertaken when an institution is poised to take a major step forward.
Special projects like constructing a new building, renovating existing facilities or acquiring a new technology platform require raising significant amounts of money in a limited amount of time. A capital campaign can marshal the interests and efforts of board members, faculty and staff, alumni, the business community and other friends to transform the ways an institution serves its students and the greater community.
The Answering the Call campaign seeks to raise $10 million for the construction and equipment of the new 53,000 square foot, three-story Mathematics, Science & Technology Center addition to Aquinas Hall and the expansion and updating of the Mount's nursing laboratories on the second floor of Aquinas Hall.
The campaign was publicly announced on May 5, 2006. In March 2007, The Kresge Foundation of Troy, MI announced that it would award a $600,000 Challenge Grant to the Mount if it can bring the total of campaign gifts and pledges to the $9.4 million mark by April 1, 2009.
