Newburgh, NY -

Autumn colors bursting from the hillsides along the Hudson
beckon families to New York’s mid Hudson Valley.
When visitors arrive at Mount Saint Mary College in historic
Newburgh they often utter “wow” in any season about the campus
which overlooks the Hudson River.
The Mount will hold an Open House on Sunday, October 23 from
9:30 am to 1:30 pm. Sign-in begins at 9:30 am in the Kaplan Family
Mathematics, Science, and Technology (MST) Center atrium, on campus
at 330 Powell Avenue.
Prospective freshmen, transfer students and their families can
learn about the college’s 47 undergraduate programs preparing
students for careers in health professions, business, education,
social services, communication/media, and more.
The road to a career begins with the Mount’s 400 plus internship
and co-op experiences offered each year, opening doors to varied
job opportunities in the Hudson Valley, New York City, the Capital
Region and beyond, making a Mount education a great value.
The Mount offers the only four-year nursing degree program in
New York’s mid Hudson Valley and boasts a NCLEX-RN passage rate in
the high 90s to 100. Recent nursing graduates are working in
hospitals in the tri-state region, and elsewhere in the Northeast
and around the country.
Students seeking that highly competitive program will visit the
state of the art labs with computerized patient simulators.
Students’ clinical experiences in community hospitals and
healthcare agencies offer valuable career experience for Mount
students as they pursue their bachelor’s or master’s degree in
nursing.
For students who want more, the Mount’s honors program provides
increased lab time and academic field experiences exploring the
Hudson River’s historic sites like Washington’s Headquarters and
nearby New York City.
Mount Saint Mary College is accredited by the Middle States
Association of Colleges and Schools, plus specialized accrediting
commissions such as the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education
(CCNE) and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher
Education (NCATE).
Mount Saint Mary College has made strategic investments with
cutting edge technology and was the first college in New York State
with a completely wireless campus. Student ambassadors will show
off tech advances such as smart classrooms, clickers, ecology
simulation software, and digital editing equipment.
With the demand for campus living on the rise, Mount Saint Mary
College recently renovated the Garden Apartments near the college
entrance and has a master plan to add residential space in the
newly acquired Dominican Center. Other residence halls, many with
river views and suite-style living, have semi-private bathrooms,
kitchens, cable, exercise rooms, movie lounges, study areas, and
even solar panels.
The View, the college’s expanded dining hall in Aquinas Hall,
has soft-seat booths and round banquettes, with ambient lighting,
floor-to ceiling windows overlooking the Hudson River, flat-screen
TVs and a new sound system. Along with the recent renovation, the
Mount has kicked up the menu, offering students varied meal options
and additional dining in Jazzman’s and Henry’s Courtside Cafe.
Another highlight of the campus tour includes Kaplan Recreation
Center with six tennis courts, an all-weather turf field and an
indoor pool with a view of the Hudson River. The Mount offers 17
intercollegiate varsity teams.
Daily mass is offered in Founders Chapel in Guzman Hall.
Students enjoy these amenities on a safe 60-acre main campus
overlooking the Hudson River.
More than 94% of Mount Saint Mary College freshmen receive some
form of financial aid, making the Mount a very affordable choice
for its 2,700 men and women.
To facilitate the transfer of credits, Mount Saint Mary College
has special agreements with community colleges in Orange, Dutchess,
Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester counties, as well as
graduate schools.
After Open House, there’s more to enjoy with apple orchards ripe
for picking and the world's tallest pedestrian bridge with splendid
scenery 212 feet above the Hudson River.
Newburgh’s beautiful waterfront restaurants offer breathtaking
views. The River Rose, an authentic New Orleans paddle wheeler,
docks at Front Street near the restaurants and provides tours of
the historic Hudson Highlands.
