Healthy fasting during Lent

Ash Wednesday ushers in the season of Lent for more than two billion Christians worldwide.

A time of preparation beginning 40 days before Easter, Lent involves prayer, repentance, self-denial, and fasting.

For a healthy start to the day during this holy season, Caitlin A. Lazarski, MSRD, Sodexo food service general manager at Mount Saint Mary College, offers the following menu:

Whole wheat bagels with Nutella; apple, banana, and orange slices with peanut butter, whole wheat flat breads with sliced cheese, yogurt with berries, walnuts and granola, and oatmeal with cinnamon.

In celebrating Easter, Mount Saint Mary College will observe a Living Stations of the Cross, commemorating Jesus’ last struggles, on March 28 at 7 pm. For information, visit www.msmc.edu.
