As an assistant to Ellen Daley, Vice President of Communications at the Orange County Chamber of Commerce, my responsibilities were varied: designing a brochure for small businesses; putting together a member resource guide; redesigning loan applications; creating some web pages for the Chamber website; and typing up sections of the Chamber newsletter, the Business Viewpoint. As part of developing the Business Viewpoint, I went with Ellen on a tour of the Times Herald Record, where the newsletter is designed and distributed. I really enjoyed working on the newsletter. It sharpened my skills in areas I thought weren't very strong. Working on the brochure also challenged me to learn and gather information.
I have surprised myself at what I have accomplished at the Orange County Chamber. This internship gave me the opportunity to learn what goes on in an office environment and to gain overall skills in many different areas.
