Mark Twain Tonight

Depart from the Desmond Campus at 5 PM. Travel to Peekskill, where you may enjoy dinner on your own prior to the 8 PM show. (A map with restaurant suggestions will be provided to you in advance of the trip.) Enter the theater in tome for the show and watch Hal Holbrook's invention, first performed in 1967. In Mark Twain Tongiht, Holbrook changes the material to maximze effectiveness and performs a variety of Twain's essays. Return to the Desmond Campus after the show. Seating is rear center orchestra. Attend Dr. Jerry Wyant's lecture on Mark Twain from 4-5 PM at the Desmond Campus prior to departure!

Irving Berlin's White Christmas

Based on the 1954 film that starred Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, and Rosemary Clooney, this lavish musical tells the story of WWII veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis who become partners in a song-and-dance act after the war. Looking for love, the two follow a duo of singing sisters who have a Christmas gig at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by their former Army commander, General Waverly. Join us for the 7 PM show at the Marquis Theatre, mezzanine seating.

Meet at the CIA for an 11:30 AM seating. Enjoy a lunch of Bocconcino al Fior di Latte, Peperoni e Zucchine Arrostite con Insalatina (Cow's milk mozzarella, roasted pepper-zucchihi salad with baby greens); Brasato di Manzo al Baralo con Polenta e Cipolline (Barolo braised beef with polenta, roasted cippolini and carrots); and Torta di Cioccolato all'Amaretto con Panna Montata (Flourless chocolate amaretto cake with whipped cream).

New York Historical Society

Lunch on your own upon arrival, either at outside restaurants or at the cafe in the Historical Society. At 1 PM meet for a docent-led tour of the Grant and Lee exhibit. This thought-provoking historical exhibition plunges visitors into the promises and disappointments that Gen. Grant and Gen. Lee and their fellow citizens faced as America expanded west and into Mexico, fought a bloody industrialized war and rebuilt itself as a unified capitalist behemoth in the Gilded Age. Grant and Lee offers a challenging interpretation of the nation's history at mid-century to every American who wonders how we became what we are today. Radio City Music Hall

Depart from Desmond at 8 AM for a day in the city. Enjoy free time prior to the fantastic Radio City Christmas Spectacular with the Rockettes,who are celebrating their 75th year. Show time is 1 PM. Seating is in the 600 section of the orchestra. The bus will pick us up at 4 PM for the return trip.

Board the coach bus to NYC at 8 AM and enjoy the day doing whatever you wish. See a show, holiday shop...the choice is yours. The bus will drop us off in the vicinity of 48th & 8th. Pick up at 5:15 PM will be at the same location. Fee includes transportation only.
