English Programs

Mount Saint Mary College and Education First

Students can attend our 6-, 8-, 10-, 12-, and 16-week MSMC/EF Intensive English Language programs in preparation for your studies. Students who successfully complete the program and show significant language improvement may be granted admission, at the discretion of the Mount Saint Mary College International Admissions Office. Students who fall just below our minimum requirements may enter into this program. Please see the program outline below:

16-Week MSMC/EF Program
TOEFL: 60-67 IELTS: 5.0 with lowest 4.5 score

12-Week MSMC/EF Program
TOEFL: 68-71 IELTS: 5.5 with two 5.0 scores

10-Week MSMC/EF Program
TOEFL: 72-74 IELTS: 6.0 with one 5.0 score

8-Week MSMC/EF Program
TOEFL: 75-76 IELTS: 6.0 with two 5.5 scores SAT (Reading+Writing): 500-550

6-Week MSMC/EF Program
TOEFL: 77-78 IELTS: 6.0 with one 5.5 score SAT (Reading+Writing): 560-590

Please note: Applicants are not required to take the TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, or ACT exams in order to be placed into the MSMC/EF English program. Students who do not submit scores and wish to enter into the MSMC/EF English program will be required to take a placement exam. Please understand that taking this exam does not waive MSMC’s requirement of submitting scores to be reviewed for admission.

Students study at the EF New York campus in Tarrytown, conveniently 45 minutes from Mount Saint Mary College’s main campus. MSMC representatives will be available and will meet with students at the Tarrytown campus during the English program. The English Program includes:

  • 32 lessons per week (40 minute lessons) with EF’s Efekta Learning System
  • Digital learning media, books, and academic materials
  • Wi-fi Internet access on campus
  • EF level placement test and tracker
  • EF course certificate and report
  • Host family accommodation in a twin room
  • Breakfast and dinner Monday through Friday
  • Full board Saturday and Sunday
  • On-going local support for the duration of the course
  • Comprehensive travel and medical insurance
  • Six months online access to EF’s Efekta iLab lessons after course completion
