HEOP Assistant Director, Center for Student
Mount Saint Mary College seeks an assistant director for its
Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP).
The HEOP is a comprehensive academic support program for
academically and economically disadvantaged students. The HEOP
Assistant Director is a member of the HEOP professional staff, a
unit of the Center for Student Success (CSS), and reports to the
Director of the CSS & HEOP. Primary responsibilities include
assisting in the management of key program elements, counseling
students in academic, financial and personal matters, as needed and
in an appropriate and sensitive manner, among other duties. The
position occasionally requires evening and weekend hours.
The ideal candidate possesses the skills and demeanor to be an
effective educator and role model for HEOP students.
A master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher
education and 3-5 years’ experience as a FT staff person in an
opportunity program or social service program that serves a similar
student population is required; a master’s degree in counseling,
social work or a related discipline is preferred. Candidates must
possess the ability to speak effectively to a variety of college
constituents, including faculty, parents and college staff. The
ability to speak Spanish is highly desirable.
