Newburgh, NY -

Investiture 2012

Tracey Niemotko (left, and right center), associate professor of accounting, was the keynote speaker during Academic Investiture at Mount Saint Mary College. Niemotko, who joined the Mount faculty in 2009, shared her story of being raised by an immigrant family. The appreciation instilled in her regarding the opportunity to receive an education helped make her a thankful person and yielded a better quality of life and a desire to give back to her community. She encouraged the students to do likewise: “be the best you can be.” Niemotko said a college education is a process for building self confidence in abilities which allow students to develop a workplace attitude that “can get the job done.” Seated next to her is Fr. Kevin Mackin, OFM, president of Mount Saint Mary College, and freshman class president, Mary Bocskocsky, an English/education major from Mohegan Lake, NY. Niemotko is a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) and the president-elect of the mid-Hudson chapter beginning in July. She was awarded the 2012 NYSSCPA Dr. Emanuel Saxe Outstanding CPA in Education Award. An author, she has researched business ethics and the law, and international business. She will lecture this spring at the University of Volgograd in Russia. Niemotko has taught accounting full time for over 25 years. She holds a juris doctor degree from Fordham University School of Law. She is a licensed attorney, certified public accountant, and certified fraud examiner, and is certified by the Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) for financial and forensic accounting services.
