Mount Saint Mary College New Student Summer Orientation 2014

Session 1: Thursday, July 10-Friday, July 11

DAY 1: Welcome to the Mount!

New Student Check-In and Breakfast
7:30-9 am: Check-in and registration, Hudson Hall Auditorium
Breakfast will be available in The View (Dining Hall) located in Aquinas Hall beginning at 7:30 am.

Parent Orientation
9-11 am: Dominican Center 218 (Multi-Purpose Area)
Come and learn more about what to expect now that your student is starting their college journey! Hear from the college’s Dean of Student Affairs and representatives from offices such as Residence Life, Health Services, Counseling and Disability Services, Center for Student Success, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Registrar, Sodexo and Mount Money during this session. Light refreshments will be served. Parents can depart after this optional parent orientation.

The Mount Mission

The mission of the College will be presented to students through engaging discussion and activities. Campus Ministry and the CDI will explain their purpose, what they offer to students, as well as their activities and service learning to become involved with.

Through their infectious personalities and innate ability to connect with their audiences, Julia and Monti bring poetry, up to date stats, inspiring stories, and empowering audience interaction to create one powerful and engaging presentation on college culture and the various situations a college student can run in to or experience during their college career.

Welcome to the Knight Life!
8 pm: Hudson Hall Parking Lot
Enjoy the MSMC Knight Life while partaking in a campus wide scavenger hunt and compete for prizes! While getting to know your classmates from the Class of 2018, enjoy food, live music, and novelties like air brush artists, a photo booth, and more!

Experience encountering a different culture by observing and interacting with members of that culture; develop strategies for learning about the roles/relationships, values, and communications styles of different cultures.

Life as a MSMC Knight
Dominican Center 1st Floor Area (DC 110)
This session will explore the Student Code of Conduct and expectations as a member of the MSMC community, as well as where to go if you need support. This session will also feature bystander training. Bystander training is based upon the principle that all members of the Mount community play a key role in promoting campus safety.

What to Expect Your First Semester
