Academic Testing and Assessment

As part of our commitment to your academic success, the College requires that all incoming students demonstrate preparedness for college-level coursework.

Nursing majors can register online for the TEAS examto be taken on campus on Saturday, May 10 or Saturday, June 8.

Students required to take the ALEKS placement can begin taking their assessment online at home, until the deadline of June 9, 2014.

Nursing Majors

All incoming nursing students are required to complete the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) which measures essential skills in the academic areas of reading, mathematics, science, and English. The TEAS is commonly used by nursing programs nationally. This test will be available to be taken at the college on Saturday, May 10, or Saturday, June 7. You can register online for the test, through the Accepted Student portal, as of April 1, 2014.

Other Majors: ALEKS

ALEKS Mathematic Placement Assessment is a Web-based assessment and learning system. Mount Saint Mary College requires an ALEKS mathematics placement assessment to determine readiness for various courses. ALEKS covers material from Basic Math through Precalculus, and will take approximately 90 minutes to complete. Students required to take this assessment can do so online, on or after April 1, 2014.

Please follow this link to the grid on the Required Test page to check if you are required to take ALEKS prior to being registered for your classes.
