The Center for Student Success provides holistic academic support services.

Our goal is to assist students in developing the skills to complete their academic programs in a timely manner, while allowing them to benefit from all the resources the College has to offer. Our professional team of advisors, student development specialists, and support staff will work with you directly to assess the best academic pathway and determine a comprehensive, individual support plan to help you reach your academic goals.

Tutoring

Free tutoring for individuals and small groups is available to all Mount undergraduates in most major subject areas. The Center for Student Success can provide tutoring through appointment tutoring, the Writing Center, the Division of Natural Sciences, and supplemental instruction.

Evidence shows that tutoring contributes significantly to students’ academic performance. Over 97% of student users report that tutoring helped them better learn their material, and surveys of student satisfaction indicate that the Mount’s tutoring services outperform tutoring programs at other four-year colleges across the nation.

Mount tutors are typically undergraduate peer tutors, highly recommended by college faculty on the basis of their knowledge, communication skills and interpersonal abilities. Academically superior students may find on campus-employment opportunities as peer tutors.

Parent Partnership Program

The CSS recognizes the value of partnering with parents who are invested in their student’s success. The Parent Partnership Program (PPP) provides parents with the opportunity to receive regular updates from the CSS related to academic deadlines and other relevant information throughout the academic year. This balance of communication and coordinated support between parents and the CSS staff is primarily intended to enhance the transition of our first-year students to college life. In addition to letters and email updates from an experienced academic advisor, the CSS also presents parent orientations at points throughout the year. For more information, please inquire at css@msmc.edu (Subject line: PPP)
