On September 27, 2012, the Catholic and Dominican Institute presented Church of the 2nd Vatican Council: A Work Complete Yet Always in Progress, a lecture by Fr. Robert Christian, OP.

Fr. Robert Christian, OPTheologian Fr. Robert Christian, OP, presented the talk, which marked the 50th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council. He enlightened listeners with exploring the meaning of Latin phrases such as “Ecclesia Christi subsistit in Ecclesia Catholica” from the Vatican II document “Lumen Gentium” and how the wording denotes both continuity and reform over the original expression, “Ecclesia Christi est Ecclesia Catholica.”

He also discussed how ecumenical dialogue furthers the exploration of faith, making such dialogue vital to the Church’s continued growth and well-being.

Fr. Robert Christian is Professor of Theology and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Theology at the Angelicum, Rome. He is a member of the Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission and Consultor to the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of Christian Unity.
