Accounting

The Mount's accounting program provides education in the fundamentals of accounting as necessary skills for understanding business. You’ll learn accounting theory, cost management, budgeting, auditing, taxation, accounting systems, and accounting as a management tool.

Accounting at the Mount

Accounting majors are taught by faculty with real-world business experience in Fortune 500 companies, many of whom hold doctorates, MBAs, or CPA licenses. As an accounting major, you'll be encouraged to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA). The Mount's Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Master of Business Administration 5-year program provides training in accounting and business. Credits acquired by the time you earn your degree will qualify you to sit for the Certificated Public Accountant licensing exam in New York State.

The Mount's hybrid online and on-campus degree programs allow students to access coursework through the web-based Learning Management System, maximizing student convenience and flexibility. Work with your classmates and faculty from home, train, office, or anywhere else to complete your degree.

Accounting Career Outlook

Employment of accountants and auditors is projected to grow 11 percent from 2014 to 2024, faster than the average for all occupations. In general, employment growth of accountants and auditors is expected to be closely tied to the health of the overall economy. As the economy grows, more workers should be needed to prepare and examine financial records.
