Interdisciplinary toward Education at the Mount
Mount Saint Mary College's education program is fully accredited by the National Council of Teachers (NCATE), the standard of excellence in teacher preparation. The Interdisciplinary BA (as a prerequisite program for the Master of Science in Childhood Education) offers concentrations in the most relevant fields, including English, mathematics, natural science, and history. Students will need to continue their studies at the graduate level to be eligible for certification.
The Mount's hybrid online and on-campus degree programs allow students to access coursework through the web-based Learning Management System, maximizing student convenience and flexibility. Work with your classmates and faculty from home, train, office, or anywhere else to complete your degree.
Employment of kindergarten and elementary school teachers is projected to grow 6 percent from 2014 to 2024, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Growth is expected because of projected increases in student enrollment. However, employment growth will vary by region.
For more information on the occupational outlook for those with a bachelor's degree, visit the Bureau of Labor Statistics website.
