Many students in the Mount's Accounting program choose to also complete their master's degree in Business Administration at the Mount to further their careers and develop their skills. Therefore, we decided to create a combined bachelor and master's degree program to save you time and money!

Declaring this program will also help students prepare to sit for the CPA exam following graduation. You'll be trained in the fundamentals of accounting and business that fulfill the academic requirements for CPA licensing in New York.
As with students on the traditional track, Mount Accounting BS/MBA students benefit by learning from seasoned professionals with a combination of knowledge, experience, and a passion for teaching. You'll learn from accountants-turned-professors who are passionate about this field and sharing their knowledge with you. The fact that this major is housed within the School of Business prepares students for a holistic view of the subject.
The School of Business at Mount Saint Mary College has received specialized accreditation for its business programs through the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) located at 11374 Strang Line Road in Lenexa, Kansas, USA. The business programs in the following degrees at the listed locations are accredited by the IACBE:
- Master of Business Administration
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting/Master of Business Administration (5 year)

What to expect as an Accounting BS/MBA major
Completing a bachelor's and master's degree in just five years takes hard work, dedication, and careful planning, but you can do it! Throughout the process, your advisor will work with you closely to make sure you are completing all of the requirements for graduation.
As an Accounting BS/MBA major, you'll start out taking only undergraduate courses your first three years of college. In your fourth year (senior year), you'll begin taking graduate courses will also completing your bachelor's degree. You'll graduate with a bachelor's degree in the spring of your fourth year and then spend the fifth year completing the graduate courses, graduating with a master's degree in the spring of your fifth year.
As undergraduates, students will complete at least 66 credits (22 classes) in Accounting. Entry into the Accounting BS/MBA program requires a grade point average of 2.85, both overall and in the major. Then, you will take 34 credits in the MBA graduate program to complete both degrees.
Be prepared for your future
Want to gain experience in Accounting before you even get a job offer? The Mount's Career Center can help you find an internship at a variety of organizations to help you build accounting experience. In the past, Mount students have interned at organizations such as KPMG, IBM, RBT CPAs, ADP, Hudson River Housing, New York City Police Department, Judelson Giordano Siegel PC, and more.
After graduation, Mount Accounting majors are prepared for a career in public accounting; corporate, government and not-for-profit accounting; consulting; and graduate study. Graduates of the BS/MBA program are also prepared to take the New York State licensing exam to become a Certified Public Accountant. While many of our alumni choose to work for larger accounting firms, others prefer to work as the in-house accountant at a community organization or even to continue to volunteer with the TaxAide program as a way to give back.
