NEWBURGH, N.Y. -
Dr. Jason N. Adsit, Mount Saint Mary College president, congratulates the Mount scholars on a job well done.
The Mount community celebrated the many achievements of its graduating seniors and more during the Fifth Annual Mount Saint Mary College Scholars’ Brunch on May 5.
As part of the Mount’s annual Celebration of Scholarship and Creativity, the brunch highlighted the successes of Ralph Scholars (top 5 percent of the sophomore class), Aquinas Scholars (top 5 percent of each division/school for juniors and seniors), Boyle Scholars (high-achieving seniors in the Degree Completion program), members of the college’s Honors Program, and members of each of the college’s nearly 20 honor societies.
About 300 students and their guests attended.
The high-achieving students were served by about 20 members of the faculty “who made students feel like true guests of honor,” said event co-planner Barbara Petruzzelli, director of the Kaplan Family Library and Learning Center. Additional planners for the brunch were Susan Whiteley, Academic Affairs coordinator; Sten Miller Perkins, assistant director of Print Communications; and Douglas Robinson, associate professor of Biology (currently on sabbatical in New Zealand).
The event was one of many celebrating the college’s graduates to be: Mount Saint Mary College will celebrate its 56th Annual Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 18, featuring keynote speaker Lt. Gen. Darryl A. Williams, Superintendent of West Point.
