Mount Saint Mary College students recently grabbed their hairbrush microphones, donned their Mount gear, and battled it out in the college’s Lip Sync Battle of Giving.

Organized by the college’s Advancement office, students were challenged to create a lip sync video throughout the month of November with the chance to win $1,000. During the final week of the semester, more than 650 Mount students, staff, and friends voted on the three finalist groups, determined by a team of Mount faculty and staff judges.

While several students battled for the coveted prize, only one group lip synced their way to the top – Danielle Petricca of New Hyde Park, N.Y.; Eliza Benfer of Milton, N.Y.; Lily Chimenti of Stony Brook, N.Y.; and Camille Muschio of Pawling, N.Y., who performed a rendition of “You Make My Dreams” by Hall & Oates.

The student group took viewers on a video tour of many of the Mount’s most beloved campus locations and included cameos by members of the Mount’s Security and Safety team; employees of Parkhurst Dining, the Mount’s food service provider; Christopher Neyen, assistant professor of Graphic Design; and Fr. Gregoire Fluet, the college’s chaplain and director of Campus Ministry.

Other student finalist groups performed “I'll Be There for You” by The Rembrandts (the theme song to the popular television show Friends), as well as “Love is an Open Door” from the movie Frozen.

Next semester, the groups will reunite for one last song, this time with Mount president Dr. Jason N. Adsit and other members of the Mount’s faculty and staff.

The Lip Sync Battle of Giving was sponsored by EC Media Group, LLC; The Pizza Shop; John and Ruth ’89 Smith; and three friends of the Mount: Steve Valdez, and Lawrence and Monica Treacy.
