Mount Saint Mary College recently held its week-long celebration to highlight its International Education programs and the benefits of study abroad experiences.

The celebration included film screenings, activities that gave students opportunities to share their thoughts on their study abroad experiences, and panel discussions. Students were also treated to a sampling of teas from China including strawberry tea, which is said to boost the immune system, or a black tea, which is said to relieve stress and increases energy.

As with previous years, one of the biggest draws for the Mount community was the 7th Annual Cultural Expo. Attendees enjoyed music, got to watch dance performances, and sampled foods from around the world while learning about the different locations Mount students have gone for their study abroad experience.

“I loved my trip to Spain. We traveled to Madrid, Barcelona, Granada, and Santiago de Compostela,” said Caleb Oliver of Jamaica, N.Y., a Hispanic Studies major in his junior year at the Mount. “I loved visiting these cities. But what I think I loved the most is getting to interact with the people and getting to know the people in my group. These were all people I had never met before and through this trip, we got to know each other really well and form great friendships.”

The week-long list of activities were sponsored or co-sponsored by the Mount’s Office of International Programs, Campus Ministry, the Honors Program, and Student Government.
