Bags of clothing donated by the Mount Saint Mary College community were piled nearly to the ceiling of the Campus Ministry office on Tuesday, October 10 as student and staff volunteers sorted the items for redistribution.

According to Roger May, assistant director of Campus Ministry, the shirts, dresses, shoes, and more are destined for the storm-ravaged areas of Texas, Florida, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the neighboring islands.

With far too many to count, the donations easily numbered in the hundreds.

May was pleased by the outpouring of support for the donation drive, but he wasn’t surprised: “Our campus community has a long history of extraordinary generosity,” said May, “and it gets proven time and time again.”

Joining May in sorting the items were officers of the college’s Knight Fashion Apparel club: Patrice Polo of Hartford, Conn., president; Neliekah Wallace of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., vice president; Maria Pellegrino of Queens, N.Y., secretary; and Kevin Morales of Newburgh, N.Y., treasurer.
