Mount Saint Mary College alumna Elizabeth Lohmeyer ’91, MSEd ’94 was recently named a National Board Certified Teacher.
The prestigious National Board Certified Teacher credential comes at the completion of a rigorous program of peer evaluations by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
Lohmeyer, a special education teacher at John Jay High School in Hopewell Junction, N.Y., is grateful to the Mount for helping to mold her into the accomplished educator that she is today.
“The Mount gave me a solid foundation on which I built my career as a special education teacher,” Lohmeyer explained. “My professors provided me with a variety of practical exercises and projects during class as well as hands-on experiences with students outside of the classroom that really helped me to develop a true understanding of special education students.”
She added, “I am a proud graduate of the Mount because the school provided me with a great education in a caring environment.”
