Mount students present research at Eastern Colleges Science Conference

May 31, 2018

Two students from Mount Saint Mary College recently presented research projects at the 72nd annual Eastern Colleges Science Conference (ECSC) at Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y.

The students were Ryan Forster of Patterson, N.Y. and Lily Goodman of Brewster, N.Y., both members of the Class of 2018. Jacqueline Copeland of Newburgh, N.Y., who graduated from the college in 2017, also attended, along with Suparna Bhalla, associate professor of Biology, and Evan Merkhofer, assistant professor of Biology. This year marked the tenth year that Mount students have presented at the conference.

Forster, a Chemistry major, received an award for his outstanding presentation.

Goodman, a Biology major on the Pre-Physician’s Assistant track, is a first-generation college student who graduated summa cum laude on May 19. The Mount legacy is already beginning to run in her family: Her brother, George Goodman, graduated from the Mount’s Nursing program in 2016, and her younger sister, Louise Goodman, is scheduled to join the Mount’s Class of 2022 this fall.
