NEWBURGH, N.Y. -
More than a dozen students and staff from Mount Saint Mary College recently strengthened their faith at the annual Awakening spiritual retreat at Camp Olmsted in Cornwall, N.Y.
The retreat provided a venue for the students to unplug from their normal routines and reconnect to their spirituality through talks, reflection, and other activities.
The students were joined by Fr. Gregoire Fluet, campus chaplain and director of Campus Ministry; and Melody Sarno, assistant director of Campus Ministry.
“No matter your beliefs or background, going on a retreat helps bring others together to grow and be open to an experience that hopefully renews or creates a relationship with God,” said senior Alberto Gilman of New Windsor, N.Y. “It has helped me grow spiritually and has helped me connect with others during my time at the Mount. Going forward, my hope is that the retreat will grow and there will be those who are ready to take on this task.”
Gilman and about 600 other Mount students will be graduating at the Mount’s 56th Annual Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 18.
