Mount team wins Spirit Award at HVYP kickball charity tourney

Mount Saint Mary College snagged the Team Spirit Award at the Hudson Valley Young Professional’s 2017 Kicks for College Kickball Tournament on September 18.


A dedicated team of Mount Saint Mary College staff and faculty members rose to the challenge of their rivals earlier this month at the Hudson Valley Young Professional’s 2017 Kicks for College Kickball Tournament.

Although the ten-player Mount team didn’t rise up straight to the top spot in the 16-team tournament, they had the guts and got the glory of winning theTeam Spirit Award.

All proceeds from the tournament, held at Memorial Park in Beacon, N.Y., were donated to the Ralph W. Mitchell Memorial Scholarship. The Mount sponsored the event and tickets quickly sold out.

Going the distance for the Mount were team manager Lisa Gallina-Alvarez, director of admissions, Graduate Programs and Adult Degree Completion; team captain Heather Fitzsimmons, career counselor, Career Center; Megan Rossi, resident director; Caitlin Kramer, counselor, Counseling Services; Brianne Thompson, academic coach/advisor, Office of Student Success; Harmony Cross, Mount HEOP director; Steven Fowler, administrative assistant, Writing Center; Jason Franky, director, Financial Aid; Azziyna Alexander, recruitment outreach coordinator, Graduate Admissions and Adult Degree Completion; Jack Deragon, athletics; and Kate Burmon, assistant professor of criminology.
