Mount to host screening of ‘My Italian Secret,’ Q&A with producers

September 23, 2019

Mount Saint Mary College will host a screening of My Italian Secret: The Forgotten Heroes, followed by a question and answer session with the film’s producers, on Sunday, October 20 at 2 p.m. at the Mount campus
The screening will be held Fluet Auditorium at Hudson Hall, 330 Powell Ave., Newburgh, N.Y. The showing is free and open to the public, but please RSVP by October 10 by emailing or calling 845-569-3218. Light refreshments will be served.
My Italian Secret: The Forgotten Heroes tells the story of sports idol Gino Bartali and other courageous Italians who rescued Jews, partisans, and refugees from Nazi-occupied Italy. Though known as a sports legend, Bartali’s most daring triumph came when he risked his life over and over to save those threatened by Nazi extermination. Bartali, like most of the rescuers, never sought recognition or reward. Few of those he aided ever knew his name or what role he played in their rescue.
Producers Vincent Marmorale and Vincent DeGiaimo will be on-hand for a question and answer session at the conclusion of the film. Marmorale is currently president of the Italy and the Holocaust Foundation, and DeGiaimo serves as the organization’s corporate secretary.
