My Italian Secret: The Forgotten Heroes tells the story of sports idol Gino Bartali and other courageous Italians who rescued Jews, partisans, and refugees from Nazi-occupied Italy. Though known as a sports legend, Bartali’s most daring triumph came when he risked his life over and over to save those threatened by Nazi extermination. Bartali, like most of the rescuers, never sought recognition or reward. Few of those he aided ever knew his name or what role he played in their rescue.
Producers Vincent Marmorale and Vincent DeGiaimo will be on-hand for a question and answer session at the conclusion of the film. Marmorale is currently president of the Italy and the Holocaust Foundation, and DeGiaimo serves as the organization’s corporate secretary.
