Mount food vendor donates meals to Newburgh Ministry

April 25, 2017

Kyle Murphy, Parkhurst executive chief, and Guy Potvin of Newburgh Ministry prepare food for donation to Newburgh Ministry earlier this month.

As part of an ongoing initiative, Mount Saint Mary College’s food vendor, Parkhurst Dining, routinely donates meals to the Newburgh Ministry charitable organization.

Each donation is enough food to make 100 lunches.

Newburgh Ministry is a culturally diverse, grassroots organization located in the City of Newburgh’s east end. It offers dignity and hope to those who enter seeking shelter, resources, solace, and fellowship. In an atmosphere of care, hospitality, and non-violence, the ministry strives to improve living conditions, transform lives, and honor God.

In addition to Parkhurst’s efforts, Mount Saint Mary College faculty and students have been engaged in service learning through volunteering their time, energy, and expertise at the Newburgh Ministry, aiding the underserved in the City of Newburgh. Mount students have donated time, money, clothing, and more.

A member of Eat’n Park Hospitality Group, Parkhurst Dining has provided authentic culinary experiences to the Mount campus for nearly a year. Menus throughout the campus include made-from-scratch meals with ingredients from local farms and producers of food.
