Mount students recognized for achievements

Mount Saint Mary College’s Honors Program recently recognized 18 seniors for their outstanding commitment to education. Also attending were Marie-Therese Sulit, associate professor of English and Honors Program director (center, seated) and Rae Fallon, psychology professor and member of the Faculty Honors Council (far left). 


Nearly 20 graduating seniors from the Mount Saint Mary College Honors Program were recently recognized for their academic achievements throughout their college careers.

The scholars each received a set of honor cords, which they wore during the Mount’s recent commencement ceremony.

The students were: Christina Antico of Smithtown, N.Y.; Shelbi Babcock of Vails Gate, N.Y.; Madison Beckman of Bay Shore, N.Y.; Olivia Bogle of Pine Bush, N.Y.; Michelle Carnazza of Mahopac, N.Y.; Lauren Epstein of Floral Park, N.Y.; Jonathan Garofalo of Marlboro, N.Y.; Kyla Nichols of Bristol, Conn.; Danielle Nunziato of Warwick, N.Y.; Janice Nunziato of Warwick, N.Y.; Kristen Ottaka of Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.; Diana Pernicano of Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; Heather Polgrean of Lagrangeville, N.Y.; Genevieve Stinson of Troy, N.Y.; Aliyah Thomas of Wurtsboro, N.Y.; RoseMarie Whyte of College Point, N.Y.; Michelle Wood of Putnam Valley, N.Y.; and Amanda Wright of High Falls, N.Y.

Mount Saint Mary College graduated 619 students during its annual commencement ceremony this May. This August, more than 400 freshman students are set to begin their college journey at the Mount.

Spearheaded by Marie-Therese Sulit, associate professor of English, the rigorous Mount Saint Mary College Honors Program challenges students to maximize their learning and leadership skills. It is open to students of all majors.
