NEWBURGH, N.Y. -

A group of about two dozen Mount Saint Mary College students, faculty, and staff recently toured the Fox Business Network studio in New York City.

About two dozen Mount Saint Mary College students, faculty, and staff members recently got an inside look at the television business through a tour of the Fox Business Network studio in New York City.

“You can learn about a career in a classroom, but it’s not until you step foot in an actual workplace that it becomes real,” said Madison Beckman of Bay Shore, N.Y., a communications/journalism student who went on the trip.

In addition to a tour of the studio and meeting Fox and Friends host Steve Doocy, the group enjoyed a question and answer session with three Mount alumni who work at Fox: Brian Punturieri ’07 and Domenico D’Atria ’12, camera operators; and Audrey Pooley ’15, a guest booker. Beckman noted that connecting with the Mount alumni provided valuable insight into how to build an effective career path.

“We got to talk with the alums about life after college and how they got to where they are today,” she explained. “They even gave us tips about the daily commute. I appreciated their advice, and I will use it to excel in my future career.”

The trip was facilitated by Kathleen O’Keefe, associate director of the Mount’s Career Center, and Regina Pappalardo, assistant professor of communication arts.
