NEWBURGH, N.Y. -
More than three weeks after suffering damage from last month’s extreme weather, Mount Saint Mary College’s Desmond Campus for Adult Enrichment reopened its doors for classes on Monday, June 4.
“We are pleased to announce that all Desmond classes have resumed,” said Sandra Brandman, coordinator of Community Education at the Desmond Campus.
Bus trips will continue to leave from the Mount’s main campus at 330 Powell Ave. until further notice.
The property suffered severe damage during the May 15 storm, which the National Weather Service confirmed included an EF0 tornado in Newburgh. While the parking lot and building of the campus are clear of debris, the 26-acre property will require extensive cleanup over the next month.
“We want to thank everyone for their care and concern over the last few weeks,” said Brandman. She also thanked the students and instructors for their patience and understanding while the campus was closed and as restoration continues.
The Desmond Campus is located at 6 Albany Post Road in Newburgh, N.Y. For more updates, follow the Desmond Campus on Facebook.
