NEWBURGH, N.Y. -
High school students learn more about Mount Saint Mary
College’s academic offerings at the Sneak Peek Summer Barbecue on
Summer days are waning, but Mount Saint Mary College still had
some fun in the sun with high school seniors-to-be at an
informative barbecue on August 9.
As the smell of fresh burgers and hot dogs drifted through the
air, the students and their families toured the campus, led by
student and alumni ambassadors. They visited residence halls and
classrooms, and were wowed by the college’s breathtaking views of
the Hudson River.
By meeting with current Mount students, faculty, coaches,
financial aid experts, and admissions staff, students and their
families learned about the diverse array of majors, courses, and
athletic opportunities offered by the college.
Laura Sporel of Westford, Mass. who is looking into an English
major on the secondary education track, said she likes the Mount’s
family-like atmosphere and small class sizes. At the college, there
is a 14 to 1 student to professor ratio.
“It seems like a really close-knit community,” she said. “I like
the faculty-student relationship and how you can really get to know
