Mount’s Class of 2022 kicks off college career
July 12, 2018
Dr. Jason N. Adsit, president of Mount Saint Mary College, welcomed new freshmen to the campus on July 12.
Welcomed by the college’s new president, Dr. Jason N. Adsit, hundreds of incoming freshmen recently took the next big step in their academic careers at Mount Saint Mary College’s Summer Orientation 2018.
Over the course of two days on the beautiful Mount campus, the Class of 2022 immersed themselves in academic and student activities and began to forge lasting bonds with their fellow Knights.
About 400 freshmen from New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, and beyond are slated to begin their academic journey at the Mount in August. The college’s Education program has once again proven popular among the new students, with plenty more aiming for careers in Business, Nursing, the Natural Sciences, and more.
Dr. Adsit told the freshmen-to-be that they held a special place in his heart.
“This means a great deal to me, because you are my inaugural class of this institution,” he said. “Four years from now, in May, you’re all going to walk across the stage and I’m going to give you your diploma. In between now and then, we’re going to do this together. I pledge to all of you that we are going to learn together, we’re going to challenge one another, and we’re going to work hard to get through and have fun on our way to May of 2022.”
New freshmen enjoyed discovering the many academic opportunities available to them at Mount Saint Mary College at the recent Summer Orientation program.
He also offered some strong academic advice: “The students who take advantage of what the institution has to offer thrive… Spend time at the library, enjoy your clinical work, take a class that challenges you, and frightens you, and is way outside of your comfort zone, and go meet everyone you can.”
The Mount’s new president is looking forward to the start of the Fall 2018 semester. Dr. Adsit and his family will roll up their sleeves and help new and returning students to move into their dorms on Opening Day in August, embracing the Mount’s culture of service right from the start.
Dr. Adsit, the college’s seventh full-time president, began his tenure on June 1, 2018. He joins the Mount family from D’Youville College in Buffalo, N.Y., where he served as Dean of the School of Arts, Sciences, and Education, as well as Director of the Educational Leadership Doctoral Program.
Mount Saint Mary College offers undergraduate academic programs in many fields, including Nursing, Business, Education, Media Studies, English, Mathematics, Information Technology, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Philosophy and Religious Studies.
Additionally, Mount Saint Mary College’s master’s degree opportunities include options in Business, Education, and Nursing. All three programs carry specialized accreditation.
