Session 1: Thursday, July 11 - Friday, July 12
Session 2: Tuesday, July 16 - Wednesday, July 17

DAY 1: Welcome to the Mount!

New Student Check-In and Breakfast

8:30-9:15 am
Check-in: Sakac Hall (women) or Guzman Hall (men)

Start at your residence hall to pick up your keys, turn in your health forms, and receive your orientation group assignment. Once you’re moved-in, orientation leaders will guide you to Aquinas Hall to join us for breakfast in The View.

Family Orientation

10:00-11:30 am
Aquinas Theatre

Families should say “goodbye” to their student at this time and proceed to Aquinas Theatre. Students should proceed to the Welcome Address in Hudson Hall Auditorium. 

Families will learn what to expect now that your student is starting his or her college journey! This session will be led by representatives from the Office of Student Success and will address everything from how to help your student in their transition to college, what you can expect as a family member going through this new phase and answering any questions you might have about Mount Saint Mary College. Department staff from Residence Life, Registrar, Health Services, Career Center, Disability Services, Counseling Services, Student Financial Services, Parkhurst (Dining), Campus Ministry and Security & Safety will be available to answer any questions. 

Please note: While the family orientation is not required, it is encouraged. Families who choose to attend may depart campus after this session.

Hudson Hall Auditorium 

This interactive presentation will feature important information regarding the student handbook, residence life policies and procedures, and on campus resources. Meet the staff from Residence Life, Health Services and Counseling Services; have some fun and win great prizes!!

Founders Chapel, Guzman Hall

The mission of the College will be presented to students through engaging discussion and activities. Members from Campus Ministry and the Catholic and Dominican Institute will explain their roles, what they offer to students, as well as activities and opportunities for service learning.

Dominican Center 1st Floor (DC 110)

In this session, we will explore the College’s expectations of you as a member of the MSMC community. We will also discuss where to go if you need support during your transition to college. This session will feature bystander intervention, since all members of the Mount community play a key role in promoting campus safety.

Are you a little nervous about what to expect coming to college in regard to keeping up with new academic expectations, how to develop relationships with faculty and staff and how to utilize resources on campus? This session will definitely help ease your mind before the start of the school year! Hear from staff members from the Office of Student Success, First Year Experience (FYE) Program, the Writing Center, the Library and faculty members to address these concerns and so much more.

Campus Safety and Title IX Overview

Students will be given an overview of security and safety services including emergency response and MSMC Alert, fire safety, affirmative consent, bystander intervention, and Students Bill of Rights. We will also be covering Title IX rights and responsibilities, reporting options, investigations, retaliation, and educational requirements.

“Think Fast” Game Show

Test your Mount knowledge in this fast paced game show to earn some cash!

Academic Registration

11:25 am-2:10 pm
Aquinas Theatre and MST computer labs/classrooms

This session will help you to learn how the First Year Experience (FYE) program, General Education, and Major requirements contribute to your fall schedule. During these sessions, students will also be assisted with the creation of their fall semester schedule. Students will receive their registration time from their Orientation Leader.

Please join us at the Campus Life Fair for lunch and to learn more about study abroad programs, student activities, clubs and organizations, student government, Campus Ministry, career services, athletics, intramurals and much much more. Be sure to get your UKNIGHT passport card from your Orientation Leader.
