Opening Day 2018

We welcome all new freshmen and transfer students who are moving to campus for the fall 2018 semester, and welcome back to our returning students!

Classes begin on Monday, August 27.

The full opening day schedule is below.

Resident Student Move-in

Resident keys will be distributed at check-in locations according to the times and locations listed below.   

Freshmen Residents
Check-in at Sakac Hall Lobby (females) or Guzman Hall Lobby (males) at the time associated with your building and floor:
8:00-9:00 am: Sakac Hall 4th floor
8:30-9:30 am: Sakac 3rd floor, Guzman 3rd floor
9:00-10:00 am: Sakac 1st floor, Guzman 1st floor
9:30-10:30 am: Sakac 2nd floor, Guzman 2nd floor

CC 21 Residents
Check-in at College Court 21 from 9-10 am. Please enter via Elmwood Place through Carobene Court and proceed to the lot behind CC 21.

CC 408 Residents
Check-in directly at College Court 408 from 10-11 am.

CC 4 Residents
Check-in at directly at College Court 408 from 10:30-11:30 am.

Transfer Residents
Check-in at Hudson Hall Auditorium from 11:30 am-12:30 pm. Please enter through the Powell Avenue main entrance and proceed directly to Hudson Hall.    

Dominican Center Residents
Check-in directly at the Dominican Center. Please enter through the Gidney Avenue Gate (adjacent to Bishop Dunn) and proceed directly to the Dominican Center parking lots at the following times:  
11:30 am-12:30 pm: DC 5th Floor
12:30-1:30 pm: DC 4th floor
1:30-2:30 pm: DC 3rd floor

Returning Residents (excluding CC 21, CC 408 and CC 4)
Check-in first at Hudson Auditorium. Please enter through the Powell Avenue main gate and proceed directly to Hudson Hall the following times:  
11:30 am-12:30 pm: CC 03, CC 12
12:30-1:30 pm: CC 20, Elmwood
1:30-2:30 pm:  CC 16, CC 392

Additional Residence Hall Information
We will begin accepting furniture requests (bed lofting, bed adjustments, etc.) on Sunday,
August 26 during your designated move in time. Requests will be handled on a first come, first served basis and completed within the first two weeks of the semester. Please remember college furniture cannot be removed from residence hall rooms at any time.

Important Note: Residence Hall Meetings for ALL resident students will be starting at 8:00 pm (check with your RA for specific meeting times).

Commuter Student Information

Commuters are invited to pick up their parking pass and/or get a new MSMC ID, should they need one, beginning Sunday, August 26 throughout the first week of classes. All commuter students are also invited to participate in Opening Day Campus Life events listed on this page.  

Important Note: Commuters are invited to join us for the Welcome Mass and Blessing of the Students at 4 pm, followed by the Welcome Back Bash, starting 5 pm.

All Students

All students, both new and returning, will be sent a link the week of August 20 to complete the validation process.

Office hours on Sunday, August 26:
The Office of Student Financial Services will be open from 9:30 am-3:30 pm.
The Registrar’s Office will be open from 10 am-1 pm.
The Campus Bookstore will be open from 9 am-4:30 pm.

24-Hour dining service begins at 8 pm. Student meal plans can be used; families may purchase meals at the door.

Transfer Student Orientation
Aquinas 062 • 1-3 pm
For all transfer students and freshmen who missed summer orientation.

“Get in Gear” with your Orientation Leaders
Kaplan Sod Field • 2-4 pm
Say goodbye to family and meet your new friends and Orientation Leader at the Kaplan Sod Field! Orientation Leaders will help students find classrooms and answer any last minute questions. Make sure to bring a copy of your class schedule!

Welcome Mass & Blessing of Students
Chapel of the Most Holy Rosary, Dominican Center • 4 pm
All students and families are welcome to attend!

Welcome Back Bash
Kaplan Sod Field • 5 pm
All Mount students are welcome to attend this exciting kickoff event! Commuter students will receive a FREE food voucher; residents may use their meal plans.
