Knight Summer Leadership Institute

The Knight Summer Leadership Institute is a comprehensive leadership program, designed to offer entering full-time freshmen from the Hudson Valley valuable leadership experience and academic skills in advance of their fall semester. The program is designed to enhance students’ personal development, welcome them into a community of student leaders, and assist in their transition to college life.

Eligibility

To qualify for the Knight Summer Leadership Institute, applicants must be deposit-paid incoming freshmen from the Hudson Valley who will be the first in their family to go to college (first-generation college student), and/or members of a historically under-served population, and/or demonstrate significant economic need.

Program Details

Students will participate in leadership development and academic enrichment workshops, including a ropes course, academic coaching, team building activities with other incoming freshmen and upperclassmen and developing a deeper understanding of resources at the college.

The Knight Summer Leadership Institute is a residential program. Students will be expected to reside in the College’s residence halls, both commuters and residents, for the duration of the program. Program participants who will be residing on campus during the fall semester will be moving directly into their permanent rooms. Cars will not be permitted on campus during the program.

In order to be considered for the Knight Summer Leadership Institute:

  1. Applications are due by July 19. Please return completed applications to:

  2. Applicants must have a completed FAFSA on file with the Office of Financial Aid.
     
  3. Qualified applicants must have paid their deposit to the College through the Office of Admissions.

Finalists will be notified by the end of July, and will be required to attend an on-campus interview with the Knight Summer Leadership Institute Selection Committee.
