Graduate Education at the Mount

If you’re looking for a place to advance your teaching education, Mount Saint Mary College is the place for you. The Mount has long been known for its excellence in teacher education. In fact, school districts often come to the Mount asking for recent graduates to hire because of the quality of our teacher education programs. Mount education alumni can be found in school districts throughout the state, country, and even the world, and two Mount alumni were even named New York State Teachers of the Year in the last decade. Plus, there are so many ways that you can customize your Mount education degree. We offer tracks in Childhood Education, Adolescence Education, Special Education, and Literacy, with possibilities for Early Childhood or Middle School extensions and dual degrees. Our education faculty are passionate about education, and you’ll learn not just from a textbook, but also from real life, practical knowledge that our faculty bring to the classroom from their own teaching experiences.

The Mount’s graduate programs are offered on an accelerated track with night and weekend classes to fit your busy schedule. You can elect to pursue your degree on a full- or part-time basis; as a full-time student, you could even complete the program in just 1.5-2 years. Plus, the Mount’s Education program is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and has a solid reputation for preparing excellent educators. You’ll benefit from small class sizes that allow for individualized attention and the opportunity to work one-on-one with faculty who can share their connections with you. Located in Newburgh, NY with breathtaking views of the Hudson River, the Mount’s location provides abounding opportunities within the teaching field, with several local schools right here in the Hudson Valley eager for Mount teacher candidates.
