Director of Parent Engagement
Alena Kush is the Director of Parent Engagement for the newly established Office of Parent Engagement. In her role she engages with all parents and families at the Mount. She serves as their primary point of contact as well as keeping parents and families engaged with the life of the college.
Alena is an alumna of SUNY Oneonta where she majored in Human Ecology and played on the Women’s Basketball Team. With Alena’s love for basketball and coaching, she was the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Nyack College for six year and coached six years for the Rockland Rockets AAU basketball organization. Coaching college basketball is where Alena fell in love with higher education. She worked her way up at Mercy College from a Coordinator in the Student Service Support Center to Associate Director of Graduate PACT (Graduate Academic Advising). After working with undergraduate and graduate students, she wanted to switch over and work closely with parents and families.
Alena currently lives in Beacon, NY with her husband of 15 years and their two daughters who attend Rombout Middle School and Beacon High School. She and her husband spend most of their time between basketball games for their oldest daughter and dance classes for their youngest. If you ask her one thing that she really feels strongly about besides her family, she would say her faith. "Faith is unseen but felt, faith is strength when we feel we have none, faith is hope when all seems lost." – Catherine Pulsifer
