Follow Your Own Journey: A Movement Workshop
12th Annual MSMC Library Week
Elizabeth Harper, PhD, Assistant Professor of Biology, MSMC
Captain Kidd and Johanna found their journey home to be one of self-discovery and acceptance. Take your own journey toward self-discovery using improvisational movement and dance. Physical movement can reveal more to you about yourself than you would imagine. Participants will take part in a simple but effective improvisational dance therapy exercise designed to aid in a personal emotional journey. No previous dance experience is required. Expect nothing and leave knowing the unexpected!
Come prepared to move - wear loose clothing with soft shoes or bare feet.
Dr. Elizabeth Harper, of the MSMC Division of Natural Sciences and a former modern dancer, will lead this movement workshop. In addition to her many academic pursuits, Dr. Harper has worked for over two decades to keep those with neuromuscular disorders moving by developing and implementing specialized dance, yoga, and water exercise movement classes. This passion has led her to pursue a license in Dance/Movement therapy from the Harkness Dance Center in NYC and she is now in her second year of this three-year program. “Follow Your Own Journey” is a chance for her to share with the MSMC community some of what she has learned.
All are welcome, approved for FYE College Life credit. The workshop is free and open to the public.
ALL ATTENDEES WILL BE ENTERED INTO A $25 GIFT CARD DRAWING!
