User Perceptions of Information Security: A Multinational Perspective

iROC - Investigating Research on CampusStephen Cheskiewicz

Please be with us March 9th when Stephen Cheskiewicz, Division of Math and Information Technology, will present User Perceptions of Information Security: A Multinational Perspective.

The Internet has changed everyday life, but there are still challenges to solve. Today’s students are the most connected in history, universally sharing personal information that has been historically considered private. There are changes in student awareness of security and privacy that have led to the popularity of applications like Snapchat that automatically destroys content and audit trails.

The purpose of the study was to examine student perceptions (English & Spanish) of Internet security. Conducted in conjunction with Dr. Miquel Colobran from the Universtat Autonoma de Barcelona, Dr. Cheskiewicz will discuss information found from the study as well as his interpretations of these findings.

Stephen Cheskiewicz is Assistant Professor of Information Technology in the Division of Math and Information Technology. He holds a Master’s degree in Instructional Technology and a Doctor of Education in Educational Technology from Wilkes University. Dr. Cheskiewicz has numerous publications including a forthcoming book, Com Preparar un Informe Percale? (Making an Expert Report of a Computer Crime), which includes highlights from this study.

User Perceptions of Information Security: A Multinational Perspective will take place in Kaplan Library Room 218 of the Dominican Center. This event has been approved FYE credit as College Connection. All are welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served. We hope to see you there!
