Steinthal Lecture: Why is a Short Story Short?

Dr. Jessica Gerson, retired professor of English from Dutchess Community College, will deliver the annual Steinthal Lecture on Monday, October 3, 2016 in the Kaplan Family Library and Learning Center, Room 218.

This event is free and open to the public, and co-sponsored by Steinthal Lecture 2016 profile picturethe Division of Arts and Letters and the Kaplan Family Library.

Dr. Gerson earned her Doctorate in American Literatures from New York University in 1977, while she was a Professor of English at Dutchess Community College. Since her retirement in 1996, she has taught courses on the short story at the Center for Lifetime Studies in Poughkeepsie, and leads ongoing book discussions at the Newburgh Free Library.
