Love and Friendship in Renaissance Florence

Travel dates: June 8-25, 2023
Students should sign up for PHL 4054 Y1. Course begins Spring 2023 Y1-Hybrid. Class will meet on Tuesdays from 11:10 am-12:35 pm, starting on March 20 through May 13, 2023.

  • Students reside in apartments in the city of Florence. 
  • Trip includes excursions to the cities of Siena, San Gimignano, Bologna, and Acetaia.

  • Study the philosophy of love and friendship as experienced in Renaissance Florence.

  • Learn about the Dominican intellectual and spiritual tradition as it blossomed in Renaissance Florence.

  • Explore the Dominican monasteries of San Marco and Santa Maria Novella, containing magnificent works of art by the Renaissance Dominican artist, Fra Angelico.

  • Visit Siena and learn about the life of Saint Catherine of Siena.

  • Free time to explore Florence and Tuscany.
