Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Public Relations
The Advertising and Public Relations major prepares graduates for entry level positions in business communication, not-for-profit marketing, online marketing, public relations firms, marketing communications, human resource management, web content management, special events planning, and fundraising and development positions.
The strong emphasis on writing, listening and critical thinking skills, combined with the theory and practice of public relations, prepares professionals for the workplace and for graduate studies.
Advertising and Public Relations at the Mount
Advertising and Public Relations at the Mount provides individual student mentoring and advisement. Students are directed to internships that will develop career skills. Seniors execute a senior thesis project that demonstrates the public relations skills each has achieved. Thesis portfolios support the student’s resume. This major provides the unique combination of theoretical knowledge, writing skills, creative thinking skills, and practical experiences aimed at producing competent professionals.
The Advertising and Public Relations major requires 39 credits following the successful completion of ENG 1010 and ENG 1020 or their equivalent. A GPA of 2.0 or better is required in CMA 2050 to continue in the major. A GPA of 2.0 in the major is required.
