Students will be introduced to art history and famous artists and create various projects encouraging their self-esteem and bolstering confidence as they learn to value the arts.  Cross-curriculum projects are developed periodically.


New York State Standards for Art Education:

Students will actively engage in the processes that constitute creation.

Students will be knowledgeable about and make use of the materials available.

Students will respond critically to various works of art (age relevant).

Students will understand the personal and cultural forces that shape artistic communication and how art, in turn, shapes the diverse cultures of past and present.
