Trade your New York Times subscription for a FREE one from the Mount!

Free online access to The New York Times is now available to the Mount Saint Mary College community. This service gives students, faculty, staff, and administrators full access to NYTimes.com and the NYTimes mobile apps, as well as their international editions. Users will find a variety of topics covered with unsurpassed quality and depth through breaking news articles, blogs, videos, and interactive features. Convenient section lists and search tools make navigation simple.

In addition, users can discover and share content on social networks, save articles, subscribe to email newsletters in areas of interest, and receive news alerts, either on predefined topics or through a keyword search the user designates.

Access is included to The Times’s latest iPhone® app, NYT Now, with a selection of top stories handpicked by editors, and What We’re Reading, a new weekly guide to recommended reading on the web.

To register (and renew):

1. Go to nytimes.com/pass

2. Create a free NYTimes.com account using your Mount Saint Mary College email address. If you already have an NYTimes.com account with your Mount Saint Mary College email address, you may log in with those credentials.

3. You have successfully claimed a Pass when you see the Start Your Access screen.

4. Now you can enjoy seamless full access to NYTimes.com, INYT.com, and the NYT mobile apps just by logging into your NYTimes.com account from any location, on or off campus.

5. Download NYTimes mobile apps at nytimes.com/mobile

Hint: Remain logged into your NYTimes.com account to have seamless access to NYTimes.com and our mobile apps for the duration of your Pass. Visit nytimes.com/passes to view your Pass eligibility and expiration timestamp at any time.

After completing the steps above...

You are ready to access the digital New York Times. You can access this database by navigating to nytimes.com

Renewing Access

An online subscription is valid for 12 months. To renew your subscription follow Steps 1-3 to register again.

Trade your Wall Street Journal subscription for a FREE one from the Mount!

Free online access to The Wall Street Journal is now available to the Mount Saint Mary College community. This service gives students, faculty, staff, and administrators full access to the Wall Street Journal's  exclusive programs for colleges and universities. Students and faculty are allowed unparalleled access to WSJ’s complete suite of digital products as well as benefit programs, classroom tools and on-campus experiences.

To register:

1. Go to WSJ.com/MSMCNY

2. Complete the following fields:

Account Type: Professor, Staff or Student First & Last Name Email Address Password Graduation Month & Year (Students Only)

NOTE: The email and password you enter here will become your login credentials when you access WSJ.com or use the WSJ app. 

3. After successfully creating an account, you will be redirected to WSJ’s confirmation page. Click on “Okay, Let’s Go” to customize your experience.

Renewing Access

Faculty and staff will need to refresh their access to WSJ content each year to confirm they are still affiliated with Mount Saint Mary College. You should receive an email that you need to "Refresh Membership." If you don't receive this email, refresh your account through the WSJ Digital Edition link on the A-Z Databases page.

Access the Chronicle of Higher Education for free!

Everyone at the Mount is eligible for a free personal subscription to the digital edition of the Chronicle of Higher Education, thanks to a campus-wide site license. With your account, you’ll have online or mobile access to the full text of the Chronicle back to 1989, including all premium articles and resources. 

As you know, the Chronicle of Higher Education is an essential resource in higher ed that allows faculty and administrators to keep on top of the latest news, trends, data and discussions impacting academe. (And don’t worry—you can still find the print edition of the Chronicle at Kaplan Library if you prefer to read that.)

Some of the features of the Chronicle Digital edition include:

Unrestricted access to the Chronicle.com on any device anywhere in the world. Seamless site entry using only your personal campus email address and password. Unlimited searchable access to the archive of daily articles, The Chronicle Review and annual special reports. Unlimited free downloads of The Chronicle’s iPad edition for all site license users. Sign up for free subscriptions to daily and weekly newsletters for the latest news stories and commentary on higher ed. including Daily Faculty Update, Chronicle Review, College Leadership Digest, and many more. To create an account:

From on-campus:
Simply go to Chronicle.com for complete access

From off-campus:

Go to Chronicle.com and click on the “Log In” link at top right-hand side of the page. Choose the “Create an account now” option. Click and confirm your campus email address, then follow the steps on the account set-up pages.

If you’re in mobile view:

Go to Chronicle.com on your device’s Web. Scroll down to click the “Log In”. Enter and confirm your campus email address, then follow the steps on the account setup pages.

If you’re in the standard view:
Follow the “If you’re off campus: computer” steps.

After completing the steps above, you're ready to access the digital Chronicle of Higher Education!
